A Positive Weekly Routine
Regular weekly sessions give each young person something creative to look forward to — returning to a beat, developing a song or building DJ skills week after week.

Safe. Creative. Sound.
A creative platform giving young people the opportunity to express themselves, discover their musical abilities and turn small musical ideas into something meaningful — with a particular heart for children and young people in care.
Why The Music Space?
With fewer youth spaces available and more young people facing difficult circumstances, positive creative outlets matter more than ever. Music offers young people an alternative way of expressing themselves without always having to explain what they are thinking or feeling in words — a song, a beat, an instrument or a DJ set can say it for them.
For those with strong musical interest or ability, The Music Space provides foundations for developing their talent — potentially the start of a journey towards a career in music. For others, it is simply an enjoyable creative outlet where they learn something new and experience the positive impact of music.

A creative programme — not clinical therapy — where music provides positive engagement and expression in a safe, carefully managed environment.
Musical ability is not a requirement. The willingness to explore is enough — and where real talent shows, we help it grow towards release-ready material.
Each session is tailored to the young person and arranged together with their parent, guardian, carer or responsible organisation.
What Can Young People Expect?

Develop ideas, lyrics and melodies, then experience the excitement of standing behind a professional microphone and hearing your own voice recorded.

Learn how modern music is created with production software, keyboards, sounds and samples — starting from an empty project and finishing with an original beat of your own.

Practical guidance at your own pace — from a first chord or melody to playing along with a favourite song or your own recording.

A hands-on introduction to DJing: tracks, cueing, transitions, timing and mixing — an immediate, exciting way into music even without any prior experience.
Our Founder & Coordinator
An award-winning music producer with a 20-year production career behind the rise of numerous musicians, Macdonald is now based in Bedford, UK. For the past three years he has also worked as a support worker with children and young people in care — using music as a tool for positive engagement and giving musically interested young people the chance to express themselves and discover abilities that might otherwise remain undeveloped.
The Music Space brings these two worlds together. He understands that not every young person finds it easy to communicate through conversation — music can provide another form of expression, through a beat, a melody, an instrument, a DJ mix or a recorded song.
Our Purpose
IT COULD BE THEIR FIRST RECORDED SONG. THEIR FIRST BEAT. THEIR FIRST CHORD. OR THEIR FIRST DJ MIX.
Musical ability is not a requirement — the willingness to explore is enough. Our goal is simple: CREATE SOMETHING. And come back next week to take it further.
Create. Express. Learn. Escape.
